Northwest Community Manager

JDC is seeking a Community Manager to engage young adults in the Northwest in Jewish leadership programs. In this role you will empower young adults to learn about and take action on behalf of global Jewish issues. You will plan and attend events, build relationships with young Jewish professionals and college students, and help to develop service learning programs. You will also lead Entwine overseas trips and encourage continuing involvement following trips.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in community organizing or event planning and a passion for global Jewish leadership. This position is remotely based in San Francisco, and as such requires the focus of an independent self-starter. Ability to travel abroad approximately 4 weeks/year and domestically as needed is required.

What will you do as our Northwest Community Manager?

  • Inspire and empower young adults in the Pacific Northwest to learn about and take action on behalf on global Jewish issues
  • Act as the main ‘link’ between JDC Entwine and North American young Jewish adults, cultivating and maintaining meaningful and long-lasting relationships
  • Connect with Jewish young adults by attending local programs, leading Entwine overseas trips, and connecting them with on-going leadership opportunities
  • Promote Entwine experiences and recruit young Jewish professionals to participate
  • Implement targeted recruitment for JDC Entwine service trips around the world in local communities
  • Cultivate lay leadership and nurture relationships with Entwine Alumni and rising Jewish community leaders through diverse engagement opportunities including events, community meetings, and accessible online content
  • Identify key leaders/organizations in local communities to partner with Entwine, develop those relationships, and serve as their main contact
  • Work closely with the Entwine’s program design staff to develop offerings and platforms for Entwine participants to take action on behalf of global Jewish issues
  • Work together with Entwine’s data and analytics staff to track the experiences of participants
  • Staff trainings for Entwine leaders, with particular emphasis on those run in Northwest Communities (including San Francisco and Seattle)
  • Become an expert on JDC’s work
  • Other related duties as assigned

What qualifications do you need to be our Northwest Community Manager?

  • At least three years of professional experience in community organizing, program and event planning or other relevant field
  • Experience and interest in education and leadership development of Jewish young adults
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to work well with colleagues as well as lay leaders and professionals
  • Excellent project management skills including great attention to detail
  • Strength in developing creative educational concepts
  • Ability to inspire and motivate young Jews to become activists and leaders
  • Ability to clearly and passionately convey JDC’s work worldwide and to elucidate the importance of global Jewish service and leadership
  • Excellent organizational skills, with ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Prior international work experience a plus
  • Knowledge of international and Jewish affairs, culture, traditions and history a plus
  • Passion for humanitarian work and/or global Jewish service strongly preferred

What are the compensation and benefits for a Northwest Community Manager?

  • This a full-time, salaried position paid bi-weekly. This role is exempt per the FLSA.
