When Jewish communities around the world are threatened - whether by war, the
catastrophic collapse of a region's economy, virulent anti-Semitism, or natural
disasters - JDC is their lifeline for aid and recovery.
As Israel fights for its survival, JDC has assembled a coalition of partners and launched a massive three-pronged initiative to keep Israeli children safe. We also are providing special targeted programs to assist Israel's most vulnerable citizens - i.e., its elderly, children and youth at risk, the disabled, and struggling immigrant communities - during this time of war. The economic crisis in Argentina has plunged tens of thousands of Argentine
Jews into poverty. JDC has established an emergency relief program that is providing
food, housing, and medical care for the most destitute families. We also are
helping the community by supporting business development and employment programs. Non-Jews also have come to depend on JDC. In the spirit of tikkun olam, we offer relief and technical expertise whenever disaster strikes, regardless of race, nationality, or political or religious beliefs. JDC's non-sectarian program is currently providing aid to thousands of people in Bosnia, El Salvador, India, Kosovo, Macedonia, the Middle East, Rwanda, Turkey, and Ukraine. Learn about our efforts to aid people in crisis and how you can help us alleviate their suffering. |
