Explore the fascinating ancient culture, history and current state of the Ethiopian Jewish community.
Visit Jewish heritage sites in a village and learn about Ethiopian traditions and history. See JDC’s contemporary nonsectarian work – including a private meeting with Dr. Rick Hodes, JDC Medical Director, and speak about his lifesaving work with children suffering from life-threatening spine and heart conditions. Journey to Israel and speak with Ethiopian Israelis about their story of immigration and integration, and learn how JDC has redefined global Jewish community.
Join JDC’s first multi-generational, thematic mission to meet the Ethiopian Jewish community. We will travel through time to a Jewish village with a member of the community, explore JDC’s contemporary nonsectarian work in Ethiopia including building rural schools, village fresh water wells, and the awe inspiring medical work of Dr. Rick Hodes.
Seen through the lens of JDC’s unique century of contact with the Beta Yisrael community and now the Ethiopian Israeli community, this mission will engage a cadre of philanthropists in an interactive experience in Ethiopia and Israel which will inspire a deeper knowledge of and participation in JDC, Israel, and broaden our notion of "community."
