Donating Goods

Around the world, many Jewish communities live in countries whose economies are in distress. In some countries, economic ruin has left families struggling to provide nutritious food, clothing and healthcare for their children. The buying power of elderly pensions often is enormously eroded. After paying for rent, heat and food, they have little or nothing left to spend on other necessities, such as medicine or clothing.

JDC seeks creative ways to assist Jewish communities around the world and find ways to supplement these needs. One such vehicle is through our gifts-in-kind program. Faced with decreasing resources and increasing needs, JDC has stepped up its efforts to expand this program. In 2006, close to $8 million worth of goods were shipped worldwide after being donated from Fortune 500 Companies, Federations, and other nonprofit organizations.

JDC ships only NEW products in BULK QUANTITIES; items shipped include new clothing, adult diapers, medication and new toys, as requested by the Jewish communal institutions that JDC supports.

Please contact us at donategoods@jdc.org if you would like to donate the following items:

  • Adult diapers, shampoos, soaps, toothbrushes, and other personal care products
  • Clothing and footwear
  • Linens and household appliances
  • Children’s toys and educational materials
  • Medication and medical equipment
  • Canned goods

As a humanitarian aid organization, JDC is bound by customs laws in the countries to which we ship. Therefore, medication, canned goods, and some personal care products must have an expiration date between 6 months-2 years after arrival at customs, depending on the country.
