Soon after the Coalition was established, an immediate donation of $10,000 was provided to Direct Relief International for the shipment of emergency aid supplies. The Coalition raised an additional $197,170 that was fully programmed through the following four local agencies for work in Gujarat, the state in which the earthquake occurred.

  • Coalition funds were provided to SEWA (Self Employed Women's Association) to support the construction and repair of 194 "roof rain water harvesting tanks" in the hard-hit districts of Patan, Surendranagar and Kutch.
  • The Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network (GIAN) was provided with funds to reconstruct a portion of a school in Neelpar Village that was destroyed in the quake.
  • Coalition assistance enabled CRY (Child Relief and You) and one of their local partners, Marag, to establish and operate 10 Child Activity Centers in the Surendranagar District of Gujarat, one of the areas most severely affected by the quake.
  • The local organization Navsarjan was provided with funding to help support the reconstruction of over 500 one-room homes for members of Gujarat's Dalit ("untouchable") community in non-Kutch areas affected by the earthquake.
