Turkey Earthquake Relief

TurkeyIn August and November of 1999, Turkey suffered two disastrous earthquakes, the first of which centered in Izmit in the Marmara region, and the second occurring further east and severely affecting Duzce. Official estimates put the death toll at over 17,000 people, with approximately 40,000 injured and hundreds of thousands left homeless. Soon after the quakes, the Jewish Coalition for Turkey Earthquake Relief was established.
