From the CEO: JDC Stands with Greece's Jewish Community

As Greece’s economic woes continue to multiply, read how recent visits made by JDC’s CEO and Board members to the Jewish community in Athens underscored JDC’s assistance and support in the face of ongoing challenges.
For the past nine months, more than 20 young adults from St. Petersburg used JDC’s Lehava young leadership program to develop leadership skills and learn important project management strategies to help implement important change in the Jewish community. On the night of June 20, they presented their community initiatives, the culmination of weekly meetings, seminars, and a study trip to the United States.
The Ruderman Family Foundation, the Boston and Israel-based foundation that JDC partners with on important efforts for the inclusion of people with disabilities in Israel, announced the winners of its 2013 Ruderman Prize in Disability. The award honors innovation in the inclusion of people with disabilities in the Jewish community.
More than 250 medical professionals from eight European countries, mostly coming from the Baltic region, attended the JDC-sponsored International Baltic Oncological Forum held last month at the JDC-founded Yesod Community Center in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Celebrated throughout Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union on June 1, the International Day of Children’s Protection is a time-honored tradition. Several JDC-supported institutions will mark the holiday with camps and programs.
