Cara Unowsky named as JDC's 2003
Ralph I. Goldman Fellow
JDC (The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee), the overseas arm of American Jewry, has named Ms. Cara Unowsky of Boston, Massachusetts as its eighteenth Ralph I. Goldman Fellow. "Cara embodies all that the Goldman Fellowship seeks to promote," said JDC President Eugene J. Ribakoff. "I can’t imagine a more dedicated ambassador of America’s young Jewish leadership, and I am certain that she will add another chapter to the RIG Fellows’ remarkable record of accomplishments."
Ms. Unowsky is currently a graduate student at Brandeis University. She is enrolled in the Benjamin S. Hornstein Jewish Communal Service program and is simultaneously working at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center in Newton, Massachusetts.
"I am thrilled to have this opportunity to help build stronger Jewish communities," Ms. Unowsky stated after learning of her selection. She added that she is looking forward with great anticipation to working with Jewish communities in different areas of the globe and eager to hone the skills she has learned in the acclaimed Hornstein program.
The Ralph I. Goldman Fellowship in International Jewish Communal Service is a one-year work-study program providing an insider’s perspective on JDC’s global programs and a range of unique assignments that respond to the changing needs of Jewish communities around the world.
JDC offers another opportunity for those wishing to spend an exciting year abroad performing Jewish community service on a volunteer basis. JDC’s Jewish Service Corps recruits candidates throughout the year for overseas placements with Jewish communities in the areas of formal and informal Jewish education, community development, and social welfare.
