Jewish Coalition for Disaster Relief Website Launched

The Jewish Coalition for Disaster Relief (JCDR) is proud to announce the launch of its new website, www.jcdr.org. Made up of 44 primarily North American national Jewish agencies, the JCDR represents the full spectrum of organized Jewish life. It is tikkun olam – helping to repair the world – in action, assisting disaster victims overseas regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.

The JCDR enables a unified non-sectarian response to be carried out following man-made and natural disasters. JCDR has responded to earthquakes, civil strife and drought, providing immediate assistance and longer-term support. It brings together the experience and expertise of a diverse group of Jewish organizations that are committed to assisting the most vulnerable victims during times of crisis – the young, the elderly, people with disabilities. Its work maximizes the use of resources, coordinates the activities of its member agencies, and informs the Jewish and general publics about the disaster and the Jewish response.

JCDR.org provides viewers with information about current and past activities in countries such as India, Ethiopia, El Salvador and Turkey, and will alert the public to new crises as they arise and the Coalition’s response. Viewers will also be given the opportunity to support JCDR’s international disaster relief efforts using a secure on-line donation form.

Funds for Coalition-assisted projects are donated by Coalition member organizations and the general public. 100% of all donated funds are used for Coalition activities.
