Making a Splash in India at the Women's Camp

During the monsoon season of 2003, JDC India conducted a Women's Camp in the "Monsoon Paradise" of Bhandaradara. Thirty-four enthusiastic women between the ages of 25-75 enjoyed themselves for four days amidst the scenic mountains, lush greenery, cool lakes and gushing waterfalls.

The theme of the camp – Famous Jewish Women in History – was reflected in the educational sessions conducted by the staff: Lebana, Edna, Elina and JSC volunteer Julieta. The "campers" conducted the morning tefillah (prayers) themselves, and also participated in interactive and thought provoking sessions on the Torah, Israeli folk dancing, arts and crafts, a singing competition "Antakshari", and games. Yoga sessions also added fun and excitement to the camp.

The women enjoyed the experience so much that they are looking forward to a future JDC Women's camp in the same place – especially during the Monsoons!
