School Library in Tunisia Dedicated in Memory of Former JDC Employee
Recently the renovated library in the Lubavitch School in Tunisia was dedicated to the memory of Evelyn Peters (z"l), a former JDC Country Director for Tunisia. Peters, who passed away in 2001, worked tirelessly in Tunisia as well as other countries in the Africa/Asia region. She was loved by all who knew her. The following remarks are from another JDC employee, Stanley Abramovitch, who knew her well: "All of us who knew Evelyn, and in particular the Jewish community in Tunisia, were impressed by her sincerity, her devotion to her mission to help Jews in many countries. She spent more years working with the Jewish community in Tunisia than in any other area of JDC activity. Wherever she worked she left a lasting impression of a warm, kind, good-hearted person, a very effective worker and a good friend." |
