The Black Sea Gesher Student Seminar – A "Jewish Woodstock"

"The masked crowd throbs to techno. A plump Romanian in a make-shift toga dances with a graceful Bulgarian in a long black wig. A clown slaps me on the back and pantomimes that I should join him in blowing bubbles and handing out balloons." Thus begins Shayna's account of her experience at the JDC-sponsored Black Sea Gesher Student Seminar.

Stationed along the Bosphorus, a busy channel connecting the Marmara and the Black Sea, Shayna Skarf, a JDC Jewish Service Corps Volunteer, assisted Istanbul’s Yidiskin Gençler (Young Adults) in creating a wide variety of Jewish programs for university students and young professionals.
