The Baltic States include Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. JDC has applied an integrated approach to community development in these countries. Regional exchanges and activities have been a key aspect of Baltic Jewish renewal, and JDC continues to encourage them.

Training programs for youth counselors and a variety of events for the region's young adults enable members of the Lithuanian community to connect with Jews from Estonia and Latvia. Representatives from Lithuania participate in the Baltic Knesset (an annual General Assembly of the Baltic communities).

In 2002, JDC community development professionals previously stationed in Havana, Cuba were sent to Vilna for a period of service to assist with the myriad of community development activities under way in the region.

In nurturing the development of the Jewish community of Lithuania and helping it to connect with other communities in the region, JDC is helping to bring a once-vibrant community back to life.
