Economic conditions in Albania, Eastern Europe’s most impoverished nation, have continued to worsen in recent years, with even basic services like water and electricity now provided on an irregular basis.

In 1991, most members of the small Albanian Jewish community made aliyah. JDC continues to support the remaining Jewish population by providing funds for the needy, ensuring the safety of the community, and helping Albanian Jews to rediscover their Jewish heritage and preserve Jewish life.
