Preserving Jewish Traditions Brings Family Close to Jewish Community

At 93 years old, Esther is one of the oldest members of her community. She was born on June 10, 1910, and has lived a long and hard life. Esther graduated from a Jewish school and worked in education. In 1941 she was evacuated to Kazakhstan together with her children and ill mother. During the war she worked different jobs and after 1945, she found work as a librarian. In 1965 she and her husband moved to her current community.

Esther is a very tactful and responsive person. She always gives wise advice and is a hospitable and skillful hostess - her Jewish community knows her delicious cooking very well.

Esther has two children, two grandsons, and four great-grandchildren. The oldest great-granddaughter is 24 years old. Everyone in the family is an active community member, because Esther has managed to preserve Jewish traditions in her home. She is now a Hesed client and an active member of the Hesed community.
