Magical World of Purim: Dnepropetrovsk Celebrates at Opera Theatre

Purim is a joyous holiday for all Jewish people, but especially for young children. Active and energetic preparations take place in JCCs throughout the region where children, together with their parents, make bright dresses and fancy costumes. Adults prepare a variety of contests to entertain their children who are studying the traditions of Purim to show their knowledge and get the best prizes.

In Dnepropetrovsk, over 900 people are expected to participate in Purim celebrations through the Mazel Tov Jewish Parenthood Program, which will take place in the Opera Theatre. Older children, parents and grandparents will also come to enjoy the celebration together with their family.

Mazel Tov is a program that reaches out to families with young children, providing material assistance like diapers and strollers, as well as Jewish items like Hebrew books and a Kiddush cup. Pregnant women receive prenatal counseling. Following the birth of a child, meals are delivered to the families and several hours of home care are provided. Later, mothers bring their young children to the local Hesed center. While elderly volunteers play with the children, the mothers participate in lectures on topics ranging from parenting and nutrition to Jewish customs and traditions - and even Jewish cooking.

All the children are excitingly looking forward to finding themselves in the magical world of Purim. Purim celebrations organized through Mazel Tov will take place in following cities:
