"It's a Deal" Develops Young Entrepreneurs

For high school dropouts facing a lifetime of unrealized potential or even delinquency, the new "It’s a Deal" youth entrepreneurship program offers a potential way out. With the support of local businesses, whose principals act as mentors and investors, at-risk youth have set up and run new business ventures - marketing billboard space, for example, or opening new restaurants – even while they remain in the care of youth services. The novelty of this approach is proving quite attractive, and those youth who’ve become involved are developing the skills necessary to become contributing members of society.
