The JDC Herbert Katzki Award
The Legacy of Herbert Katzki
A key figure in the rescue of Jews during World War II, Herbert Katzki
was a man of records. In his 60 years with JDC (1936-1996) he devoted extraordinary
efforts to maintain written and oral testimony of the work of JDC for the
sake of history. The JDC Archives, much sought after and used by historians,
academic scholars and journalists is a living memorial to Katzki’s work in
this area.
About the Award
This award was established in order to recognize works of excellence
in the area of contemporary historical writing supported by wise and intensive
use of archival material. Although the use of JDC archival material is preferred,
it is not a requirement for the entry.
