- JDC Web-Log Project Background and Partners

The JDC Web-Log Project: Expedition to the Jewish World is a pilot project in Jewish Education. This collaborative and pluralistic project attempts to create connections between Jewish students and communities around the world using real-time and interactive technology, and people to people connections to bring Jews together.

The Web-Log has three main goals:

  • To educate American Jewish students about Jewish communities worldwide today from a firsthand perspective
  • To increase awareness of the mission and work of the JDC
  • To explore the educational possibilities of JDC/Day School partnerships

JDC is honored to partner with the following day schools on this pilot project:

The Rashi School

The Rashi School, the Boston area Reform Jewish Day School, was founded in 1986 on the recognition that Judaism is concerned with intellect and knowledge, emotion and spirit, action and observance. Today, with lower and middle schools and a diverse student body of more than 300 in kindergarten through grade eight, Rashi is a vibrant and engaged community of learners. Our educational program emphasizes academic excellence and fosters the development of Jews with critical minds and compassionate hearts, who will become responsible members of society and whose lives will be shaped by the Jewish tradition.

The Reuben Gittelman Hebrew Day School

The Reuben Gittelman Hebrew Day School is devoted to educating Jewish youth to be knowledgeable and participating members of the community of Israel and responsible citizens of the United States. The philosophy and purpose of the school are rooted in the principles of the Conservative Movement. The school was established to teach Jewish children in PreK-8th grade the laws, customs and traditions of Judaism, as well as the Hebrew language. It provides its students with an intensive general studies program, enabling them to meet the challenges of their future education and careers. Equal emphasis is placed on the Jewish and General Studies curricula.
