About JDC in Hungary: In the aftermath of World War I, JDC responded to the dire needs of Jews ravaged by hunger, disease, and war. In more recent decades, JDC has offered assistance to Hungarian Jews in the darkest days of World War II, during the communist era, and now in the aftermath of communism’s fall.
While Hungary has built a well-established network of Jewish organizations, there continues to be a need to enhance communal life and advance the community toward self-sufficiency. JDC works in Hungary to provide social services to the neediest, expand Jewish renewal and outreach activities, and promote community development.
