A deeper dive into the former Soviet Union

Go beyond the quintessential JDC travel experience to explore some of the lesser-known gems of the former Soviet Union while getting an in-depth look at JDC’s work caring for the region’s impoverished elderly.

In Minsk, Belarus, you’ll experience both the pain of a community laid low by the Holocaust and the joy of its remarkable rebirth. Your deep dive continues in Tbilisi, Georgia where you’ll discover the rich culture of one of the world’s foremost ancient Jewish communities. Delight in the flavors of Jewish life in the birthplace of Georgia’s culinary renaissance with folk dancing classes, a tasting of Georgia’s world-class wines, and a traditional Georgian supra feast.

Traveling with JDC is a rare window in the corners of the global Jewish community that often go unseen, and an opportunity to witness firsthand the life-changing work we’re doing around the world. There is no more meaningful or authentic way to explore the breadth and depth of the Jewish experience than alongside the people nurturing and sustaining it.

  • Meet the teens and volunteers who are powering Minsk’s reemerging Jewish community.
  • Visit the Jewish Community Centers and Hesed Social Welfare Centers at the heart of JDC’s work, including the Minsk Jewish Campus and Gori JCC.
  • Witness life-changing humanitarian care in action, and sing and dance with the elderly clients who benefit from your support.
  • Tour Georgian cultural landmarks like the Old Town of Tiblisi and Mtskheta.
