The following has been issued by JDC CEO Ariel Zwang:

“JDC shares in concerns about how growing tensions on Ukraine’s borders could impact local Jewish communities.

We have been providing humanitarian assistance and Jewish community-building programs in the former Soviet Union, including Ukraine, for more than three decades. Our work in the region benefits tens of thousands of needy Jews and those participating in Jewish life every year.

It’s important to note that JDC’s human service and Jewish community programs in hundreds of locations throughout Ukraine continue uninterrupted. This includes our homecare and material support for vulnerable Jews like the poor and elderly, including Holocaust survivors, and our Jewish cultural, educational, youth, and volunteerism initiatives.

Drawing from our experience in the region, we are working with our team on the ground and partners to ensure the ongoing well-being and safety of our clients and staff and to prepare for emerging needs.”
